HumanCar - A Street Legal, Human Powered Car

October 9th, 2006 | by Brian Carr |

This one you have to see to believe.

A company called HumanCar, based out of Seattle, WA, has developed the first “street legal, human powered” car.  The V.2FM4, which ranges in price from $5k to $17k depending on the features, is designed for four passengers who provide the “car’s” power by essentially rowing an apparatus that provides manual power to the vehicle’s wheels.

And, to top things off, the vehicle is able to steer thanks in large part to each passenger leaning in the proper direction.

Due to its ultra light frame, “drivers” have been able to achieve speeds of up to 60 miles per hour, although these speeds were achieved while going down hill.  30 miles per hour is believed to be a more realistic, flat land speed.

All things considered, this is a pretty interesting concept and probably an outstanding way to get in shape, but I think I’m going to go ahead and leave this car to Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble.

I think id rather just stick to using a bicycle, this vehicle seems to be of the same concept. Do you have any photos we may see of it?
